A wealthy teenager leaves her pushy father and shallow fiancee to live life on her own. Finding work as a cocktail waitress in a local rock club, she soon falls for the poor, but studly, lead singer of a rock band that regularly performs there. She finally seems happy, but her father and ex-boyfriend continue to disapprove. Undaunted, the strong-willed girl even gets a shot at rock stardom when talent scouts from a major label show up to watch her new beau's band -- and she's pressed into duty as a last-minute replacement singer.
