In a small Ohio town, Lucy Vinson and her three children are brutally murdered—and her husband mysteriously disappears. A month later, a fiery car crash leaves the only survivor horribly disfigured (Keith Carradine) and totally amnesiac. After extensive treatment, he starts a new life with the name Allen Devlin.
Years pass, but the police chief (Richard Widmark) who handled the Vinson massacre remains obsessed with tracking down the killer.
